All reviewsReview of the bookmaker Odibets from Legalbet
Odibets is a relatively new company that has started on a decent note so far. They already have a growing reputation on the Kenyan betting scene but they still have a long way to go in order to grow a similar reputation for their Ghanaian extension. Their sportsbook and lack of promotions are the two major issues to be sorted. Lots of work and improvement is to be done on their platform or they will be left behind compared to their counterparts. Time is still on their side though and they have started small but on a good note. They are authorized and regulated by the Gaming Commission of Ghana under Gaming Act 721.
Odds — good
We calculated the margin for Odibets by analysing the odds they offer. We further ranked them in one of the following three categories:
From 1% to 5%: Good value
Over 5% to 7%: Average value
Over 7% to 10%: Poor value
Football
We’re getting our results by taking into account the odds for final result outcomes measured in line with the total goals scored for different football leagues. By getting the average results using this method, we were able to obtain the margins for each league and also the overall betting margin for the bookmaker.
Odibets has an overall margin of 4.43% for football and falls in the good value category. In the first section using odds from the English Premier League, the margin is at 3.37%. The second section with Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A, has a margin of 6.20%. Finally, by counting the English Football League One, Austrian Bundesliga and Polish Ekstraklasa, the margin is at 7.78%.
Betting options — good
Predominantly based in Kenya, Odibets recently branched out to sister country Ghana as they look to grow their customer base across Africa. We can be lenient with our assessment of the Ghanaian website given that it is literally only months old. The Odibets website for Ghana was only launched in November 2020 and we can’t be all that critical of their services given the time it was established.
Range of Sports: As at the time of writing, 15 different sports could be seen on the platform. Of course, they can do better but they are on the right path for a start. On the platform, they boast on popular games like football, basketball, tennis and other not so common ones like handball, floorball and Aussie rules. Inclusive of the 15 different sports as earlier mentioned is the presence of an esports section as well as a dedicated virtual section for football called ‘Odi League’. The virtual lovers will definitely find this one appealing.
Similar to their head platform in Kenya, there is a lack of casino games on the website so this is not a place for casino lovers.
Their user interface still needs a lot of improvement with the icons not properly spaced out and the site giving an overall dull look. Once again, we expect them to improve with time.
Range of Bets and Markets: Football is the most prominent sport on the Odibets website and it’s no surprise to see them give even more focus on the sport.
While the wide range of options are welcome for football, the same diverse options could not be seen on other sports. Even popular sports like basketball, tennis and a bunch of others were found lacking in this regard.
This is a big disadvantage to the non-football lovers and something they must improve on to generally boost the quality of their sportsbook.
Taking football into account, they boast popular betting options available on the platform. Classic options like "Over/under" "Double chance" and some more exciting options like "1st goalscorer" to go with.
We gave them the ‘normal’ rating for this section simply because they only recently launched the website and they would need a bit of time to get up to speed regarding functionality and a lot more content.
Betting limits: Betting limits are on an expected level, and most probably will fit fine to the most of the players. You may normally expect the less popular markets having lower betting limits, as it’s the case for almost every bookmaker out there.
In-play — good
Asides picking tour bets the usual way before the games start, a feature that almost all bookies have taken under their wings is of course the availability of ‘Live betting’.
If you know how to predict the outcome of the game based on how it is playing out already, the live betting option could be one for you if you are not so lucky with the outcome of picks before games.
Odibets offer the live betting feature and it is simple to access and simplistic enough to select games in this section. Their OdiLive section, as they have labeled it, has a good amount of variety of sports and events to choose from, spreading from various football leagues to tennis, table tennis and eSports. The markets accompanying them are more than a 100 for the more prestigious events and a handful for the less popular ones.
All in all, inplay betting is a good feature in Odibets that misses a bit in terms of presentation but wins back most of it due to the sports coverage and the good number of markets coming with them.
